Obituary

Annie Mae Handsford was born on June 9, 1921 in Eatonton, Georgia to the late Mr. Walter Hudson Williams and Mrs. Polly Farrer-Williams. She moved from North Carolina to Orlando, Florida in 1955. Mae peacefully transitioned from this life into her eternal rest on Sunday morning, September 19, 2021 at Cornerstone Hospice in Ocoee, Florida. Mae was also preceded in death by her brothers: Cecil Williams, Cicero Williams, John Thomas Williams Sr, Johnny Williams, Jimmy Williams Sr, and Walter L Williams; sisters: Carrie Bell Williams-Craig, Mary Lee Williams-Smith, Ola B. Williams and Essie Pearl Williams-Roland.

Mae was very determined to complete her education, she received her GED later in life. She worked as a domestic, a child care worker and at Dawson Research. She enjoyed shopping in high end department stores and had nice clothes to prove it.

After her retirement, Mae was a volunteer with The Orange County Foster Grandparents Program where she worked for over 30 years. In 2011, she received letters of service appreciation from the Mayors of Orlando and Orange County, Gov. Rick Scott, Senators Bill Nelson and Mark Rubio and other politicians for 25 years of volunteer service to the Foster Grandparents Program.

Mae was a long-time member of Victory Deliverance Center in Taft, FL.  She was very friendly and could easily meet strangers and strike up a conversation as if she had always known them. She enjoyed fishing and talking about the Bible. She had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Mae was loved and will be missed by all.

Mae is survived by her children, daughter: Shirley Huggins, Orlando, son: Walter L. Williams, (Cheryl) Ocoee, FL. A niece she helped raise: Gloria Jenkins, Orlando. Grandchildren: Richard Huggins, Orlando, Sherrie Holden (Ronnie), Orlando, Corey Eudell, Orlando, Chris Williams (Adriana) Orlando, Walter Williams (Nekyna) Leesburg, Fl. And a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
