Carolyn Yvonne Johnson was born June 4, 1943, in Sanford, Florida to Ruthie Brandon-Nathan and the late W.H. Robinson. She attended Goldsboro Elementary School (affectionately called "The Little Red School"); and graduated from Crooms Academy in 1961. She moved to Rochester, New York upon graduation and attended business school.

Carolyn was married to the late Frankland Johnson of Eatonville, Florida in December 1966. One daughter, Nicole, was born of this union. While living in Rochester she became a night employee at Stromberg-Carlson in the Circuit Plate Soldering Division. She later joined the team at General Motors Corporation from which she retired.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her mother, Ruthie Nathan, Sanford, Florida; one daughter: Nicole Johnson, San Antonio, Texas; two grandsons: Nicolas (Jenna) Johnson, Rochester, New York and Justice Johnson, San Antonio, Texas; five brothers: Leon (Lois) Burrows, Rochester, New York, Herman Nathan, Jr., Sanford, Florida; Ronald (Ingrid) Nathan, Sanford, Florida; Gregory (Ella) Robinson, Sanford, Florida, and Larry Nathan, Sanford, Florida; one aunt: Elnora (Almore) Johnson, Sanford, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
