A Life Remembered

Our beloved Mother Ira Hunt was born on July 2, 1939 to the late Tobe and Elizabeth Chambers, in Dawson, Georgia. On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, she made her transition to be with the Lord.

Mother Hunt loved the Lord, was saved at the early age of thirteen and was a devoted member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus, Orlando, Florida under the leadership of Bishop James Mims.

She was educated in the public schools of Yeoman Elementary School, Dawson, Georgia, Carver Middle School, Albany, Georgia and Jones High School, in Orlando, Florida. After her studies she birthed six beautiful children and flourished in her careers as a nurse's aide at Sunnyland Hospital, food service worker with Glenridge Middle and warehouse technician at Eckerd Corporation Warehouse, all in Orlando Florida. She was also one of the few known African American woman licensed by the state of Florida to open a facility, Ira's Daycare, within her home that provided childcare in her community.

On September 10, 1988, Mother Hunt was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, the late Napoleon Hunt Jr. They met and shared their passion of teaching the goodness of Jesus while attending True Holiness Church, Orlando, Florida, under the leadership of the late Pastor Hurgene & Juanita Vinson who later licensed Mother Hunt as an ordained minister. They became business owners, opening up Ira's Kitchen, downtown Church Street in Orlando, Florida. Also, Mother Hunt would become the First Lady of The Apostolic Church of Jesus, Apopka, Florida until they relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began fellowshipping with Latter Rain Apostolic Church, under the leadership of Elder Curtis Morris.

Mother Hunt will be remembered for her warmth, her love and feeding anyone one that was hungry. Anyone who knew her would have enjoyed a meal or two at her table. She had a huge impact on everyone she met. Even after retiring, Mother Hunt still volunteered at The Lord's Pantry, Albany, Georgia were she processed donations and continued to be a servant compelling those who did not know Christ, to be saved.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mother Hunt was preceded in death by her brothers Jay Lee Chambers, Tobe Chambers Sr. and David Chambers, her sister Nellie B. Crawford, her daughter Joann Rivers and granddaughter Janice Campbell.

To cherish sweet memories of her, she leaves: her four daughters, Ardella Brewer, Adrian Dawkins and Sherry Anderson all of Orlando, Florida; Belinda (Herbert) West, Albany, Georgia; a son:Issac Steven Mitchell, Orlando, Florida; a nephew she raised, Reverand Gary (Sharon) Chambers, Albany, Georgia; three sisters: Ethel Taylor, Columbus, Georgia; Beth Justice and Geraldine Anderson, Orlando, Florida; five brothers: Willie C.
