Orlando
Richard Al Johnson, affectionally known as "AL" was born on August 30, 1936, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Edward Johnson Sr. and Theresa Stevens. He was also lovingly nurtured and cared for by the late Mrs. Mary Jane Johnson.
On July 4, 2026, at the age of 89, Al peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, family, strength, service, and love.
Al was a devoted, God-fearing man whose faith was deeply rooted in the Lord and His Word. He wholeheartedly believed in the teachings of the Bible and allowed his faith to guide him throughout his life's journey. He trust in God was the foundation of his life, and he stood firmly on God's Word through every season.
As a young man, Al proudly serviced his country in the United States Air Force. His military service reflected the discipline, dedication, and strength that remained a part of his character throughout his life.
Al was a hardworking and dedicated man who devoted many years of service to Fennell Container, which later became Republic Container. His strong work ethic carried him through a long and dedicated career, and he continued working until the age of 72. He was dependable, committed, and took great pride in working hard and providing for the family he loved.
Above all else, Al was a family man. His family was at the heart of his life, and he cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for his family was deeply felt, and the memories created with him will forever remains treasured in the hearts of those who loved him.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Johnson Sr. and Theresa Stevens; his beloved Mama, Mrs. Mary Jane Johnson; his daughter, Sharia; and his siblings, Edward Johnson Jr., LeRoy Johnson, Bobby Johnson, and Jackie Johnson.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his children; son Renaul Johnson and his wife, Donna Johnson; daughter Kim Johnson; daughter Alaina Johnson Mizzell and her husband, Raphael Mizzell; son Ryan Johnson; and daughter Tereida Felder.
His legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, as well as extended family members and friends whose lives he touched throughout his 89 years.
Those who knew Al will remember a man grounded in his faith, devoted to his family, and committed to the values he believed in. His life was not defined simply by the number of years he lived, but by the love he gave, the sacrifices he made, the work he dedicated himself to, and the faith he carried throughout his journey.
Although his passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express his family finds comfort in knowing that Al stood firmly on the Word of God. The faith he held so dearly gives us comfort and hope as we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
We will miss his voice, his presence, his wisdom, and the everyday moments shared with him. What once seemed liked ordinary moments as now among our most precious memories.
