Sherron Leonard was born on July 21, 1971, in Cocoa Beach, Florida to Virginia Leonard and Willie Ed Jackson. As a child, she was involved in sports, such as, softball and cheerleading. She was active in church. She sung in the choir, served on the Usher Board, and was active in the Youth Department. She attended Brevard County and Seminole County Public Schools. She graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood, Florida in 1990.
Upon graduating high school, she worked a variety of jobs. She worked in retail, the restaurant industry, and factory work. She also worked with troubled youth at The Grove Counseling Center as a Behavior Management Technician and as an Administrative Secretary for many years. At the time of her passing, she was employed with Heart of Florida United Way as a 2-1-1 Specialist providing resources to struggling families and taking phone calls with the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. She was attending Daytona State College to obtain a degree in Business Administration.
In December 2001, she rededicated her life to God and joined Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She served in many ministries including, singing in multiple choirs, Shepherd's Care, and she was the Church Secretary for many years. While she was church secretary, she was instrumental in the church's functions. She performed many secretarial duties and helped many people in any capacity needed.
On June 5, 2021, at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida, Sherron made her transition from this Earthly dwelling to her Heavenly dwelling to rest in the arms of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Naomi Gant (Cocoa Beach, FL) and her Godparents, James and Lucille Cathey (Cocoa Beach, FL).
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her mother, Virginia Winston (Sanford, FL); three children Marcus Leonard, Marquis Leonard, and Alexis Leonard (Sanford, FL); one sister, Zanetta Leonard (Sanford, FL); two nieces, Tanisha (Devon Sr.) Leonard and Takiyah Hicks (Sanford, FL); one great nephew, Devon Butler Jr.; and a great uncle, Marion (Lisa) Gant of Palm Bay, FL. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family, friends, and a loving church family.
Sherron Leonard was a person with a heart of gold and a lending hand. Even when she had nothing left herself, she would put the needs of others before her own.
