Obituary

Dr. Tim Adams, Th. D. was born on November 23, 1943 in Orlando, FL to the late Leroy and Ruby Adams. He was one of five children. In 1961, upon graduation from Jones High School, Mr. Adams attended Bethune-Cookman University, and completed science and math studies at Stetson University. He graduated from Southern College as well as the University of Central Florida and received a B.S. in Liberal Studies and a minor in Legal Studies. He later earned a Doctorate of Christian Education from City Central College and Seminary.

Dr. Tim L. Adams, Th.D. was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. Tim Adams completed further studies in the US armed forces Institute and the University of Maryland. He was also very passionate about helping those less fortunate in his community. For more than two decades Mr. Adams served as a Human Rights Advocate. His affiliations included: Membership in the United States Legion, The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, The NAACP, and The Urban League. Dr. Tim Adams, Th.D. was a founding member of the African American Chamber of Commerce. He also served as the first by-laws committee chairman with several attorneys. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Legal Services of MID-FLORIDA. Dr. Adams, Th. D. has dedicated a life-time of public-spirited services for the Central Florida community.

Mr. Adams excelled in the researching and planning of legal case strategies and applying legal procedures for several Florida based attorneys. He utilized this skill set to successfully advocate for grant funding for several Florida based organizations on both the State and Local level such as the incorporating of the Nehemiah Program, the Juvenile Justice Grant, the W.E.E.D. and S.E.E.D Crime prevention and economic Development Program in 1997, and the Ryan White funding that employed many local residents and community workers. Later, he served as Vice President and Chairman of Housing counseling for the National Association of Real Estate Brokers affiliates in Central Florida. He was a politician and a publicly elected official on the Orange County Soil and Water Board as well as a dedicated small business owner.

Brother Tim Adams was added to the Church of Christ at Westmoreland Drive, Orlando, Florida at an early age. Later he became a founding member of Southside Church of Christ. Dr. Tim Adams, Th.D. served as the first Vice President of the Southside Church of Christ, SM in 1999. Dr. Tim. Adams led the congregation to locate on Raleigh Street. Additionally, Tim Adams exceled in business development and the development of nonprofit organizations. Dr. Adams, Th.D. was influential in Saint Mark A.M.E. procuring the six-acre tract of land that was developed for its sanctuary and school campus in 1969. Additionally, Dr. Tim Adams, Th.D. lobbied the East-West Expressway Board to provide more than ninety thousand dollars for the former Saint Mark site on Avondale Street, and the same amount for the Saint John Baptist Church's former site on Cater Street. He served on several committees including charitable ministry to feed hungry people. Dr. Tim Adams, Th.D. was an advocate for economic development services for all of the residents throughout central Florida.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerome L. Adams, M.D. and his son Victor Rhyan Adams.

Brother Tim L. Adams transitioned from mortality to eternal life on April 22, 2021. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Aretha Adams, his lovely daughter Timeka Vereen (Danny Jr.) and four beautiful grandchildren: Kennedi Brooke Adams, Dana Vereen, Danny Vereen III, Danielle Vereen. His Son-in-law, Danny Vereen, Jr. M.S. Engineering, his siblings: Alice Hardy, J.D. (George), Tyrone L. Adams, M.D., J.D., and Anthony T. Adams, M.S. LMHC; and his dedicated sister-in-law, Linda Adams, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
